Whether or not you are pursuing a passion or side hustle, confused about quitting your job for a new one, or just looking for a change, know that it’s not a straightforward decision. It requires careful planning and thinking. Transitions are not just about doing something different. A career transition is a lifestyle redesign that often entails rethinking how you want to feel at the end of the day, how you want to spend your time, and how this relates to your longer term goals. When you feel this need for change, it isn’t necessarily related to a fancier title or more money, but your inner voice whispering that you could do more, be more, experience and achieve more.

True diversity isn’t about checking the box. It’s about recruiting a workforce that includes individuals with different worldviews, ethnicities, religions, backgrounds, abilities and ages. This is a challenge many companies face when trying to create a well-rounded culture. Diversity and inclusion isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach as each culture has their own unique circumstances. It is important that companies and Human Resources prioritize having policies in place to demonstrate what is acceptable.

It is no secret that tech has had a long-standing diversity and inclusion problem. It is arguably a root cause of many larger issues that plague technology, including implications for justice and fairness; and increases discrimination against people of color. Now, amid building social pressure, the industry is pledging to take new steps to narrow its persistent diversity gap.

As a woman rising in today’s executive workforce, you need every edge you can get. While studies continue to underscore positive correlations between companies with gender-diverse leadership teams and profitability, women executives are still far scarcer than their male counterparts. For example, a recent study found that 75% of businesses have at least one woman in a senior management position, but the proportion of upper-level roles held by women is still only at 24% and 1% in technology. I have often found myself as the only woman in the room.

The Horn and the Halo is about an angelic demon who somehow ended up with a halo wedged over one of his horns. His childlike behavior and animated thoughts compel you to see him as a lovable character, although he can be very devilish. As Lord Devil begins to plot against Thath, the book transitions to Earth, where the Defense Forces (good guys and gals) are protecting the people of Earth and the planet itself. The various characters in the military all play a vital role as a team to maintain the balance of the forces, as well as themselves. Each one is a very strong leader to include one of the new recruits. Although this is a fictional book, you might see yourself or someone you know in one or more of the characters.
